You can read all about our Goals in the “About” Page (I would start there because it really explains what this project is all about).

This page is mainly to tell you HOW we plan on using Contributions.  Up until now, the Project has been self-funded by the publisher, David. (That’s me!)   I intend to match contributions 50 cents for every $1 raised (up to the first $25,000).  You can visit the Citizen Journalist Cooperative (CJC) GoFundMe Page at  — https://gofund.me/1cc3216b

At present, and for the envisioned near future, the CJC has 4 areas of financial expenditure, and this is how initial funding will be used:

  1. Article Distribution.  This is the biggie.  “Boosting Posts” through paid advertising on Facebook, Twitter or other venues is the best way to share teasers to articles, and that then link to the article on our website.  It is actually very effective.  Social Media Shares multiplies the advertising effect.  Hot Topic stories can go viral.  This is the largest expense and correlates to printing and distribution costs of a traditional newspaper.
  2. Pay for hosting, domain, email accounts (Minimal)
  3. Open Records Requests, Document Retrieval, Printing, Duplicating
  4. Website Coding and Customization

Eventually, there will be small salaried or hourly positions, but to start all of this is volunteer citizen work.  We will list specific areas of work that are needed in the near future.  The ultimate goal here is to build a Citizen Journalist Cooperative that will eventually grow into something powerful, incorruptible, that can serve as a lasting source for truthful and intelligent News aggregation and distribution.  We are hoping to attract visionaries and activists to this project.  Time will tell where this goes.  Read our “About” page for what our goals are.
